Star Indian wicketkeeper-batter KL Rahul was recently in the headlines for his outstanding knock against South Africa in the first Test of the two-match Test series. He played a very crucial knock of 101 runs in the first innings to rescue India from a miserable position after they lost 4 wickets before scoring 100 runs.

Apart from that, KL Rahul was also in a conversation with Star Sports a few days back, where he spoke in detail about his entire journey from failures to the peak of his career in international cricket.

“There's that extra fire in us to go a couple of steps further the next time.” – KL Rahul about the importance of the World Cup

Meanwhile, KL Rahul also spoke about the importance of the World Cup wins both as a team and as an individual cricketer. He also rated the World Cups very high in comparison to any kind of bilateral assignments.

“It doesn't mean much or 10 years or 15 years later when we retire, we will not remember our career for the runs or wickets that we've taken or other bilateral series that we won. World Cups are the only thing that we will remember. So, yeah, there's that extra fire in us to go a couple of steps further the next time,” said KL Rahul on Star Sports.

“Yeah, but during all of this time, I knew there was pressure to come back and all of that, but I had such a bad event that happened in my life that everything else seemed like, okay, it doesn't, really matter. Everything else seemed smaller compared to, tearing your quadriceps and going through surgery. I couldn't walk for the first three or four weeks. I was on the walker and, then slowly started building myself up during all that time,” he added later.

Now, KL Rahul will be in action for India in the second and last Test of the two-match series against South Africa. He is active there as the wicketkeeper-batter for India.
