On this day, 15 years ago, Sachin Tendulkar surpassed the former West Indies batter Brain Lara and became the leading run-scorer in Tests. In the second Test against mighty Australians in Mohali, Tendulkar crossed the figure of 11,953 runs. The great batter of all time finished his career with an astonishing 15,921 Test runs. He was playing in his 152nd game on that day. Sachin has served the nation for 24 years and has achieved some exceptional records.
The 50-year-old batter was batting alongside his favourite cricketing partner Sourav Ganguly. He guided the ball towards the point and third-man area and ran three runs off Peter Siddle's bowling to achieve the milestone. He scored score 88 runs off just 111 balls before he was dismissed. Tendulkar is regarded as the greatest cricketer to have ever played the game of cricket. As the Mumbai-born batter has scored 100 hundreds in international cricket which is an exceptional record. Former India skipper Virat Kohli is the nearest to him with 77 centuries.
In the longest format of the game, he has scored 51 centuries and 68 half-centuries. His runs in the traditional form of the game do not look like they will be broken anytime at the moment. The Indian Cricket Board posted a video in 2019 of the 'Master Blaster'. The closest to Sachin's test record is Ricky Ponting who has 13,378 runs.
