3 Indian players who might lose their spot after the England Test series

India’s Test squad faces a reshuffle after the England series. With underwhelming performances and rising competition, three players—Karun Nair, Prasidh Krishna, and Shardul Thakur—could be on the chopping block. Here’s why.

Prasidh Krishna

India has fared better than most would have expected before the start of the series. They dominated most parts of it, even though the scoreline doesn’t say the same and the blame for which can be specifically put on a few players. Here are three such players.

Karun Nair

Karun Nair was given an extended run in the series, playing four of the five matches. He could not do much to impress the team or the spectators either, scoring just 205 runs across eight innings of four matches with a poor average of 25.625. He did look comfortable for most parts of his stay on the crease, but never could make the most of it, as the tally includes just one 50+ score, that too came in the last match of the series.

The team kept their faith in him; however, he could not return the trust and kept failing. This could be one of the prominent reasons behind India not getting the desired results out of the matches as well as the series.

Prasidh Krishna

Chosen as the frontline pacer for the Indian Cricket team, he has failed miserably time and again. Prasidh Krishna was coming off a great season in the Indian Premier League 2025, where he was also awarded the Purple Cap for claiming the most wickets.

Coming from a high, the team trusted him and played right away in the first two games, where he took five wickets but gave away runs at the speed of a T20 game. He got just one in the second game and is doing a good job in the last one, but again has let the run flow a little too quickly.

Shardul Thakur

Shardul Thakur was made a part of the squad for the England tour with the idea that he could recreate the magic from the last tour. He got to feature in two games of the five-game series, where he could amass just 46 runs in three innings and two wickets in the same number of innings.

He played two games but has had no impact on the game either with the bat or the ball. The majority of the runs and wickets from him came in a single innings, leaving the rest of the series completely wasted.
