5 Cricketers who had extramarital affairs

What are we to make of the cricket players who allegedly had extramarital affairs? After all, without fire, there can be no smoke. The scandalous marriages of some Indian cricket players have made headlines. Despite the fact that these players are extremely well-known for their game, their infamous extramarital affairs are nonetheless visible and under the radar.

A marriage in stormy waters is bound to make headlines because of today's powerful social media, where people read and investigate everything cricket players do and miss. Here are five cricketers who had extramarital affairs.

1. Shane Warne

Shane Warne, the legendary Australian leg-spinner, was once a sober family man. In 1995, he married Simone Callahan, and the two of them had three kids: a boy and two daughters. Shane's erratic behaviour caused problems in the couple's relationship. In 2005, the couple made the joint decision to end their relationship.

After becoming formally unmarried in 2009, Shane wasted no time in starting an affair with Elizabeth Hurley, a married British actress and model. Even after they became engaged in late 2011, Shane's flirty behaviour continued. Finally, in late 2013, the pair cancelled their engagement.

2. Viv Richards

The fact that Bollywood actress Neena Gupta and West Indies cricket icon Viv Richards had a brief romance and have a daughter together is well known. Richards was already married at the time, which is why he was unable to settle down with Neena. This is something that many people are unaware of.

He supported Neena through it all, despite his decision to remain faithful to his wife Miriam, before making amends with his daughter, whom he had earlier denied was his father. At the time, it had become one of the most controversial cricketing events.

3. Mohammed Azharuddin

Mohammed Azharuddin is considered to be India's controversial captain. He married Naureen earlier in his time with the Indian team, and the two of them had two kids, Asad and Ayaz. Azharuddin had several relationships outside of marriage. He reportedly divorced his first wife, Naureen, in 1996 due to his involvement with actress Sangeeta Bijlani.

He eventually married Bijlani. But in 2010, the former Indian captain broke up with her after Azharuddin allegedly had an affair with Jwala Gutta, a top badminton player from India. Additionally, he has been connected to an American certified transformational yoga instructor, Shannon Marie Talwar.

4. Sourav Ganguly

The cricket player from Kolkata, who is regarded as one of the best captains to come out of India, made headlines for his rumoured romance with Bollywood star Nagma. By the late 1990s, the pair was the talk of the town. They were frequently seen together at the 1999 Cricket World Cup, according to Reuters.

Neither personality, though, acknowledged or disputed having a relationship with the other. Many years later, Nagma was cited as saying that "there was a career at stake" as the cause for their split.

5. Shoaib Malik

Before dating Sania Mirza, Shoaib had already married Ayesha Siddiqui, according to news reports. Following Shoaib's 2010 marriage to Sania Mirza, Ayesha filed a lawsuit against him. According to her, they were married in 2002. In order to put a stop to all the commotion, Shoaib eventually granted her a divorce and married Indian tennis legend Sania Mirza.

However, he cheated her with another Pakistani actress, Sana Javed, thus even this marriage has failed. Now, he is married to Sana.
