Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) won the Indian Premier League (IPL) for the first time last season. They built a solid squad in the mega auction and under Rajat Patidar’s captaincy, created history, beating Punjab Kings in the final. The auction for IPL 2026 is not far and the planning around the same must have started as well. Here we look at five unsold players from IPL 2025 whom RCB can pick in the IPL 2026 auction:

1. Tim Seifert

It was surprising to see Tim Seifert of New Zealand go unsold in the auction last year. He is a swashbuckling batter at the top of the order and can win matches single-handedly for any side in T20 cricket. Interestingly, RCB picked him as a temporary replacement for Jacob Bethell for the last few matches in IPL 2025. But the franchise will have to release him according to rules. It goes without saying that RCB will go after Seifert aggressively yet again in the auction.

2. Will O’Rourke

Will O’Rourke played as a temporary replacement for Mayank Yadav for Lucknow Super Giants in the IPL 2025. He also went unsold in the mega auction but ended up playing three matches at the fag end of the tournament. The pacer did well to pick up six wickets at an average of 22. He was expensive during his stint but is a wicket-taker and can be a good back up option for Josh Hazlewood who is injury prone.

3. Mustafizur Rahman

Mustafizur Rahman is another decent option in the bowling line-up for RCB in IPL 2026 auction. The left-arm fast bowler has been doing well in the Asia Cup and can do well at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru where the pitches have not been entirely flat over the last few years. Rahman is death overs specialist and RCB could be keen on securing his services given his returns in 2025 especially. The Bangladesh cricketer has found his mojo this year and can be on the radar of quiet of a few teams next year in auction.

4. Umesh Yadav

Umesh Yadav was not on the radar of any franchise in the mega auction ahead of IPL 2025. But he can seriously come into contention for RCB next year. With future of Yash Dayal uncertain as of now, they will look for an Indian bowler in the auction and Umesh Yadav’s experience can come in handy. He can swing the new ball as well and can complement Josh Hazlewood well.

5. Akeal Hosein

Akeal Hosein is a T20 specialist spin bowler. RCB lacked players in the spin bowling department in IPL 2025 as there was no one to support Krunal Pandya. Suyash Sharma wasn’t consistent enough and hence, they are in need of a good spinner who can tonk the ball down the order as well. Akeal Hosein fits in perfectly in their squad and on slow surfaces, he can be tried even to open the bowling attack like he has done for the West Indies.
