India vs Pakistan (Men's U19 Asia Cup 2023)

India U19 and Pakistan U19 locked horns in the 5th match of the ongoing Men’s U-19 Asia Cup in Dubai. Both teams played this match in Dubai. Pakistan skipper Saad Baig won the toss and asked the men in blue to bat first. Batting first, Team India posted a total of 259 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in the allotted 50 overs.

Opener Adarsh Singh scored 62 runs, hitting 4 fours and a six with, alongside the knocks of 60 and 58 runs, played by skipper Uday Saharan and middle-order batter Sachin Dhas, respectively. These knocks helped India U19 to reach a total of 259 runs, losing 9 wickets in the allotted 50 overs.

The 17-year-old pacer Mohammad Zeeshan scalped 4 wickets just at the cost of 46 runs in his quota of 10 overs, alongside two wickets each picked by Amir Hassan and Ubaid Shah. Apart from these three, Arafat Minhas also picked a scalp with the bowl in the first innings.

Pakistan batters outmuscle Indian bowling attack during run-chase

While chasing the target, Pakistan faced an early blow as they lost Shamyl Hussain just at the team’s score of 28 runs in 4.5 overs. Shamyl went back to the pavilion at an individual score of 8 runs after getting trapped against Murugan Abhishek.

But, then came the match-defining 110-run partnership between opener Shahzaib Khan and number three batter Azan Awais before the former fell prey to Abhishek at the individual score of 63 runs. Later, skipper Saad Baig sojourned there in the middle, alongside the centurion Azan Awais to finish the match for Pakistan. Awais and Baig stitched an unbeaten partnership of 125 runs for the third wicket to win the match for Pakistan. Azan Awais scored an unbeaten 105 runs, alongside an unbeaten knock of 68 runs scored by skipper Baig.

Eventually, Pakistan won the matches comfortably by 8 wickets, scoring 263 runs for the loss of 2 wickets in 47 overs. Azan Awais won the ‘Player of the Match award for his match-winning century.
