Aakash Chopra picks combined England-India XI

Former cricketer Aakash Chopra announced his combined India-England Test XI based on performances in the five-match series after the exciting 2-2 draw in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy.

Despite their impressive performances, the team, which combines batting prowess and all-around effect, left out prominent players like Washington Sundar and Prasidh Krishna.

KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal were chosen by Chopra to be the openers. "Ben Duckett's name could have been there too, but Yashasvi has done well," he remarked, praising Jaiswal, who scored hundreds in the first and last Test matches.

In addition to having two fifties, he scored hundreds. KL Rahul, who has been steady and serene for two centuries and two half-centuries, deserves to be there.

Chopra moved Joe Root from his typical spot at No. 3 to make room for him. "Root has scored significant runs. He has been England's rock," he clarified. The fourth-highest scorer in the series, Shubman Gill, scored 754 runs. Chopra declared, "This team cannot be made without Gill, and it cannot be made without Joe Root."

Harry Brook and Rishabh Pant, who both made noteworthy contributions, were selected for the middle order.  Despite suffering a foot injury during the Manchester Test, Pant managed to amass 479 runs.

“Pant bats even with a broken foot. He is a generational player, making Test cricket entertaining,” said Chopra.

With 481 runs, two hundreds, and a 99, Brook was praised for saving England during difficult times.

Ben Stokes, the captain of England, was selected at number seven. “He has been outstanding. Had he played the last match, the result might’ve been different. His bowling was the highlight,” noted Chopra. Because of his consistent batting performances and few ball-handling opportunities, Ravindra Jadeja was selected at No. 8.

Josh Tongue of England, Mohammed Siraj, and Jasprit Bumrah made up the fast trio. Even though India lost all three of the Test matches that Bumrah played, Chopra called him "a once-in-a-generation player." With 23 wickets, Siraj was the series' leading wicket-taker.

Miyan Magic—no doubt about it. He bowled over 1100 balls and kept delivering,” Chopra said.
