India skipper Suryakumar Yadav won the hearts of the fans on Sunday (September 14) after he dedicated the win over Pakistan to the country’s brave armed forces. He also expressed solidarity with the Pahalgam attack victims and stated the entire team is with them. However, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Saurabh Bhardwaj has targeted Surya on the matter and dared him to donate all his match earnings to the families of victims.
He dared the BCCI and the ICC as well to donate the money earned from sponsors and advertisers from the match against Pakistan. At the same time, the use of the word ‘aukaat’ in his statement wasn’t great.
“If you, the BCCI and the ICC have the courage, whatever you have earned during the match through the broadcasters and advertisers, donate it to the widows of the Pahalgam terror victims),” he told the reporters in Hindi on Monday.
This is very embarrassing, says Saurabh
There was a negative sentiment in the whole country ahead of the game against Pakistan as many also demanded a boycott of the match from the Indian team. But the game went ahead with the Indian government clearing its stance on the matter.
Coming back to Saurabh Bharadwaj, he also went on to claim that the cricketers will only keep dedicating wins but in reality don’t have courage to do anything.
“They do not have the courage to do such a thing. Just keep saying that we dedicate this and that. This is very embarrassing,” Saurabh added.
For the unversed, India skipper Suryakumar Yadav didn’t shake hands with the Pakistan team on Sunday after smashing the winning six. He and Shivam Dube just walked off the ground, even as the Indian players shook hands amongst themselves and went inside the dressing room. The matter escalated further as Pakistan threatened to boycott the match against the UAE but eventually ended up playing.
As they won against the UAE, Pakistan will lock horns against India once again in the Super Four round on Sunday (September 21).
