Former South African middle-order batter and analyst AB de Villiers has come out in support of the Indian talismanic batters Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma during the fag end of their career, after their exceptional knocks in the Sydney ODI against Australia Down Under.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, AB de Villiers slammed Kohli and Rohit’s critics, calling them "cockroaches," and questioned them for being against the veteran batting duo during the latter stages of their careers.

“I don't know what it is about people. I'm not sure if I can call them people. Cockroaches climbing out of their holes as soon as players get towards the backend of their careers. Why?” asked de Villiers on his YouTube channel.

"Why do you want to pour negative energy into players that have given their lives for their country and this beautiful game of cricket. This is the perfect time to celebrate them," he added.

Furthermore, he asserted that though the majority of people in the Indian cricketing fraternity celebrate the likes of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli for their incredible careers, AB pointed out that there is a separate section of fans who are too harsh on the veteran duo.

"They have taken a lot of criticism in the last few months. Everyone is just trying to push them down for what reason, I have no idea. Obviously, I am referring to the minority because I think the majority of people celebrate Rohit and Virat and their incredible careers. And it is a fantastic time to celebrate them once again," he concluded.

For the unversed, Rohit Sharma scored an unbeaten 121 while Virat Kohli smacked an unbeaten 74 in the SCG ODI to bag a consolation win in the three-match ODI series.
