Star Australian pacer Mitchell Starc had an off day in the office against New Zealand in the 27th match of the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023. Both teams played this match at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala on Saturday, October 29. The veteran pacer Starc couldn’t scalp even a single wicket in his entire spell.

Apart from that, it was also the first time in his ODI World Cup career for the 33-year-old veteran pacer when he failed to claim a wicket. Earlier, he had an unbroken streak of going with at least one wicket consecutively in the 23 matches before this match against New Zealand.

Starc went very costly as he conceded 89 runs in 9 overs with a very expensive economy rate of 9.88 in the high-scoring thriller against New Zealand. This performance from him also attracted a lot of reactions from cricket across social media platforms.

New Zealand and Australia produce a nail-biting thriller for the cricket fans

Speaking of the action of the match between New Zealand and Australia, it was a nail-biting last-ball thriller in which both the teams produced excellent stuff of cricket for the cricket fans. On being asked to bat first after winning the toss, Australia posted a big total of 388 runs, losing all the wickets in the allotted 50 overs.

Openers, David Warner and Travis Head played the sensational knocks of 81 and 109 runs, respectively, alongside a 41-run knock played by Glenn Maxwell.

While chasing the target, the New Zealand batters also produced a world-class run-chase by scoring 383 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in the entire 50 overs. Although they lost the match by 5 runs, it was a game to be remembered for the ages for the cricket fans, including a top-notch performance from both the teams.

Young number three batter Rachin Ravindra scored a crucial century for New Zealand, scoring 116 runs followed by 54 and 58-run knocks played by Daryl Mitchell and James Neesham, respectively.
