Former South Africa skipper Faf du Plessis came up with a big suggestion for Team India ahead of their upcoming Test challenge against the hosts. Notably, India have toured South Africa 8 times before this tour since the re-arrival of the rainbow nation to cricket. Unfortunately, none of the Indian teams have succeeded in winning a Test series against South Africa in South Africa.

Meanwhile, the former star batter and ex-skipper Faf du Plessis suggested a better way for the Indian batters to crack the Proteas soil code and register the first-ever Test series win against them in South Africa.

"There will be up and down bounce." - Faf du Plessis on pitch's behaviour till the last day of the Test

“It’s the bounce,” said Faf du Plessis in reply to a question about the major challenge for the Indian batters in South Africa.

“Here is almost one full hand of extra bounce here, compared to what they usually face in India. They are used to hitting the ball up there, but with the bounce on offer and lateral movement, there is an additional risk at play if you haven’t done it before and are not used to the lift. The key to doing well in South Africa is to leave well and be there for a long period,” said Du Plessis to Indian Express.

“Generally, on Day 1, there’s a bit of grass on the wicket, it’s a bit slow. So, it seems around a little bit. Then days two and three are excellent batting surfaces. But then again, it speeds up quickly, and the cracks on the pitch start to get bigger with the bit of heat in the pitch. And then towards the end of day four and day five, there will be up and down bounce. So, if you bat well in the first innings, losing a Test in Centurion is always difficult. But if you fail with the bat in the first innings, you are in for a long battle,” he explained further.
