'Afghanistan ka future hai ye' - Fans react as Ibrahim Zadran becomes first-ever Afghanistan batter to score ODI World Cup century

Ibrahim Zadran has become the first Afghanistan batter in history to score a century in the ODI World Cup and that too against five-time Champions, Australia.

Star Afghanistan opener Ibrahim Zadran became the first-ever batter in the history of the Afghanistan cricket team, to score a century in the ODI World Cup. Zadran scored his maiden ODI World Cup century in the 39th match between Afghanistan and Australia, in the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023.

Zadran’s century knock has also kept Afghanistan in the game so far against the mighty bowling attack of Australia.  

Coming back to Ibrahim Zadran, he has scored 117 runs, with 7 fours and 2 sixes so far in the match.  Apart from that, he has also become the first Afghanistan batter to score a century against the five-time champion, Australia.

The sensational century scored by the 21-year-old also garnered a lot of praising reactions from cricket fans on X (formerly Twitter).

Speaking of the action of the match, Afghanistan posted 291 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in the allotted 50 overs, Ibrahim Zadran went unbeaten at the individual score of 129 runs, hitting 8 fours and 3 sixes, alongside star all-rounder Rashid Khan who played a blistering cameo of 35 runs off just 18 balls with 2 fours and 3 sixes.

Earlier Rahmat Shah and skipper Hashmatullah Shahidi also played the knocks of 30 and 26 runs, respectively. Josh Hazlewood scalped 2 wickets for Australia, alongside one wicket each claimed by Mitchell Starc, Glenn Maxwell, and Adam Zampa.

Notably, if Afghanistan manage to win this match against Australia, they’ll strengthen their chances in contention for the remaining two spots for the semi-finals of the ODI World Cup 2023. Currently, they have 8 points with 4 wins in the 7 matches, they played before the ongoing clash against Australia. 

Afghanistan have defeated four teams in the tournament, including three of the former World Cup Champions in the form of England, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka.
