The group stage of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2026 will come to an end on February 20, 2026. The Super 8s stage will begin from February 21 onwards and the eight teams that will play in this round have been finalised.

The T20 World Cup 2026 started with 20 teams divided into four groups of five teams each. It was decided that top two teams from each group will qualify for the Super Eights stage, where the teams were to play one another once in the round.

Prior to the T20 World Cup 2026, the International Cricket Council (ICC) confirmed eight seeded teams based on the T20I rankings. An unseeded team will take the Super 8 spot that was initially allotted to the eliminated seeded team from that group if it advances at the expense of a seeded team.

New Zealand, Sri Lanka, England, and Pakistan are pre-seeded for Group 2 of the T20 World Cup 2026 Super 8 stage, while Australia, India, West Indies, and South Africa are pre-seeded for Group 1.

The top two teams from the each Super 8s group will proceed for the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup 2026.

All Super 8 qualifiers from the 2026 edition are also assured direct berths to the T20 World Cup 2028.

The Super 8s schedule for the T20 World Cup 2026

The 2026 T20 World Cup Super 8 phase will start on February 21 and end on March 1. The International Cricket Council (ICC) declared eight seeded teams based on the T20I standings prior to the 2026 T20 World Cup.

Regardless of where they finish in the group round, these teams will be placed in predetermined spots for the Super 8 stage.

In the Super 8 stage, the eight qualifiers will be split into two groups, with each team playing the other three sides in its group once. The top two teams from each group will then progress to the semi-finals.

The T20 World Cup 2026 saw the elimination of two teams from the group stage. After losing all three of their opening games in the T20 World Cup, Nepal became the first team to be formally eliminated. Oman was the second country to withdraw from the 10th T20 World Cup.

The first well-known side to leave the T20 World Cup after only one victory was Australia.
