Former Indian keeper-batter Ambati Rayudu has heaped praise on the Rajasthan Royals opening batter Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who displayed exceptional heroics in the recently concluded IPL 2025 season.

Speaking on Shubhankar Mishra’s YouTube channel, Rayudu has asserted that Vaibhav’s bat speed is extraordinary and hopes that nobody changes that. Furthermore, Rayudu felt that Vaibhav should take a piece of advice from a player like Brian Lara, who had a similar type of bat lift, to improve his gameplay.

“His bat speed is extraordinary. Jo uska whip aata hai (the bat whip which he generates). I hope nobody changes that. He should get better. Someone like Lara... maybe go and talk to him. He also had a similar type of bat lift. So he can learn about how to control the bat speed when you are defending and when you are playing with a soft hand. So if he learns that, then he will be an extraordinary talent,” Rayudu said on Shubhankar Mishra’s podcast.

Moreover, Rayudu reckoned that Vaibhav shouldn’t get too much advice from different people, as it might disturb his gameplay. Also, he added that he has to just back his talent and not listen to too many people.

“He only has to focus on one thing, and that is he should not to listen to many people. Don't listen to people; just back your talent. And for coaches also, it is important that usko zyada gyaan mat do (don’t give him too much advice.) Leave him,” he added.

Notably, Suryavanshi ended the IPL 2025 season, accumulating 252 runs from only seven innings at an average of 36 and a strike rate of 206.55 with one century and a half-century with the best score of 122.

After the IPL 2025 season, he had a successful stint for the India U19 side against England U19 in England in the five-match Youth ODI series.
