Anushka Sharma, Daughter of Army Veteran, Salutes Indian Armed Forces Amid Rising Indo-Pak Tensions; Virat Kohli Responds

Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma expressed profound gratitude to the Indian Armed Forces for making immense sacrifices while serving the nation. Anushka, for the unversed, is the daughter of retired Colonel Ajay Kumar Sharma and in her post, she called them the heroes of the nation.

“Eternally grateful to our Indian Armed Forces for protecting us through these times like the heroes that they are. Heartfelt gratitude to the sacrifices they and their families have made. Jai Hind,” she wrote on her Instagram post on May 9, 2025.

Soon after her post, her husband cricketer Virat Kohli responded to her with a simple and powerful comment that read, “Jai Hind.” In fact, Kohli was one of the first cricketers to share his tribute on Instagram as he lauded the Indian Armed Forces for protecting the nation at the border, thwarting the multiple attempts of Pakistan to destroy places in India.

“We stand in solidarity with, and salute our armed forces for fiercely protecting our country in these difficult times. We are forever indebted to our heroes for their unwavering bravery and heartfelt gratitude for the sacrifices they and their families make for our great nation,” Kohli wrote in his Instagram post.

The messages from Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma come in the wake of Operation Sindoor, a precision strike conducted by the Indian Armed Forces on May 7, targeting nine terrorist centers in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. The operation was a response to the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22, which claimed 26 lives, including tourists and a foreign national.

Apart from Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah, Rohit Sharma and other Indian cricketers also took to social media to appreciate the sacrifices made by the Indian Army Personnel during this tough time.

“We owe our freedom and safety to the relentless efforts of the Indian Army. Your courage on the borders is unmatched. Thank you for everything you do for us,” Bumrah wrote on X.

“With every passing moment, with every decision taken I feel extremely proud of our Indian Army, Indian Airforce & Indian Navy. Our warriors are standing tall for our nation's pride. It's important for every Indian to be responsible and refrain from spreading or believing any fake news. Stay safe, everyone! #OperationSindoor #JaiHind,” Rohit wrote on social media.
