India are set to face arch-rivals Pakistan in the ‘Super 4’ stage of the ongoing Asia Cup 2025 on September 21 in Dubai. Both teams qualified for this stage from Group A. India won all three group games, while Pakistan made it through by defeating Oman and the UAE. 

Against India, however, they suffered a humiliating seven-wicket loss in Dubai. How they will make a comeback remains to be seen, but there are players from both camps who can play a pivotal role in deciding the fate of the match.

Abhishek Sharma

The explosive India opener will be key once again. Throughout the tournament, Abhishek has shown his aggressive nature with the bat. In three matches, he has scored 99 runs at an average of 33.00 and a strike rate of 225.00.

His blistering starts have set the tone for India, whether batting first or chasing. Against Pakistan in the last game, he smashed 31 off 13 balls, striking at 238.46. Hence, once again, he is expected to give the much needed start in Dubai.

Shaheen Shah Afridi

The prime Pakistan pacer is known for his wicket-taking ability with the new ball, especially in the powerplay overs. So far, he has taken only three wickets in three games, but with the bat, he has made crucial contributions. Against India, he scored an unbeaten 33 off 16, striking at 206.25, and helped his team cross the 120-run mark.

Then, against the UAE, he scored an unbeaten 29 off 14, striking at 207.14. With the ball, he also picked up two wickets in that game and was named Player of the Match for his all-round performance.

Kuldeep Yadav

The left-arm wrist spinner has been in great form for India. In three matches so far, he has picked up eight wickets, including a four-wicket haul. In the group clash against Pakistan, Kuldeep was the Player of the Match for his brilliant spell of 3/18. In the middle overs, he will once again be a major threat for Pakistan in Dubai.
