The much-awaited Asia Cup is all set to start from September 9 as eight teams will fight it out for glory over the next 20 days. For the first time in history, eight teams are participating in the tournament and they are - India, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Hong Kong, Oman and the UAE.

India are the official hosts of the Asia Cup but the tournament is being played in the UAE with the matches scheduled to take place in Abu Dhabi and Dubai. India are grouped in Group A alongside Pakistan, Oman and the UAE while Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Hong Kong are in Group B.

Top two teams from each group will make it to the Super Four round where the teams will face each other once. At the end of the Super Four round, the top two teams in the table will qualify for the final.

As far as the captains are concerned, most of them are leading for the first time in the Asia Cup. Suryakumar Yadav is India’s captain while Salman Ali Agha will lead Pakistan with the latter featuring in the marquee clash for the first time. Afghanistan will be led by Rashid Khan and Litton Das has taken over the captaincy reigns for Bangladesh.

Charith Asalanka, Yasim Murtaza, and Jatinder Singh are the captains of Sri Lanka, Hong Kong and Oman respectively.
