In a series of blows amidst Australia’s ongoing ODI World Cup 2023 campaign, star all-rounder Mitchell Marsh has been ruled out of the next game against England. The news came out after Marsh flew back to Australia due to personal reasons. Just before the exclusion of Marsh, another veteran all-rounder Glenn Maxwell was ruled out of the England clash due to the concussion that he sustained while playing Golf on Monday.

In the same line of events, Cricket Australia also came up with an official statement confirming Marsh’s exclusion from the Australia vs England match.

“Australian allrounder Mitchell Marsh has returned home from the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2023 late last night for personal reasons. A timeline on his return to the squad is to be confirmed. No further details will be offered at this time,” reads the media release from Cricket Australia.

Notably, Marsh played in all the matches Australia played so far in the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023. He had been in very good touch with the bat in the tournament, scoring a half-century and half-century with the willow in six appearances for Australia, including a 36-run knock in the recent match against New Zealand.

Marcus Stoinis and Cameron Green likely to replace Mitchell Marsh and Glenn Maxwell

The Aussies will take on the defending champions England in the 36th match of the tournament at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Saturday, November 4. They will be eyeing the semi-final spot with a win in this match against the reigning champions, who are already in the last spot of the points table of the tournament.

In the absence of Marsh and Maxwell, Australia might look ahead to include Marcus Stoinis and Cameron Green in the match against England. Stoinis was not a part of the playing XI in the last two matches against the Netherlands and New Zealand due to a problem in his calf.
