The ongoing three-match T20I series between Australia and South Africa has been evenly contested. After two games, the series is tied 1-1. The decider will take place in Cairns on August 15, 2025.
After the T20Is, the two teams will face each other in a three-match ODI series starting August 19. The series will run until August 24. The opener will be held in Cairns, while the next two matches will be played in Mackay.
Both teams have announced strong squads. However, Australia have been forced to make changes due to injuries. Three key players — Matt Short (side strain), Mitch Owen (concussion) and all-rounder Lance Morris (back injury) — will miss the series.
As replacements, spinner Matthew Kuhnemann, pacer Aaron Hardie and all-rounder Cooper Connolly have been named. Hardie and Connolly are already part of the ongoing T20I squad and will now feature in the ODI series as well.
Mitchell Marsh will lead the side in the absence of regular ODI skipper Pat Cummins. Cummins has been rested to manage his workload and prepare for the Ashes series later this year. Even, another veteran pacer, Mitchell Starc has been given a rest.
For South Africa, Temba Bavuma will be back as the captain of the side in the ODI series. All eyes will be on the youngster Dewald Brevis, especially after scoring the second-fastest T20I century for South Africa in the second T20I.
