South Africa’s tour of Australia 2025 is set to begin with a three-match T20I series, starting on August 10. The first two games will be held at Marrara Stadium in Darwin, on 10 and 12 August, respectively. The third and final T20I will be played at Cazalys Stadium in Cairns on 16 August.
Mitchell Marsh will lead Australia, while Aiden Markram will captain the South African side. Australia are coming into this series with strong momentum, having whitewashed West Indies 5-0 in their recent T20I series in the Caribbean. Under Marsh's leadership, the Aussies will aim to continue their winning run, especially in front of the home crowd.
South Africa, on the other hand, recently featured in a T20 Tri-Series in Zimbabwe, where they reached the final but lost to New Zealand.
In head-to-head T20I stats, Australia have dominated. Out of 25 T20Is, they have won 17, while South Africa have managed to win only eight. In Australia, the home side has been even more dominant, winning five out of seven matches. South Africa's only T20I wins on Australian soil came on 5 November 2014 and 17 November 2018.
There will be plenty of attention on South Africa’s young talents, especially Dewald Brevis and Lhuan-dre Pretorius. If given opportunities, both players will be eager to make their mark on this important tour.
