Australian batting all-rounder Matthew Short has emphasized that the Australian pacers will continue to threaten the Indian talismanic batter Virat Kohli with the outside off-stump line when India takes on Australia in the second ODI at the Adelaide Oval on Thursday, October 23.

For the unversed, Kohli suffered a duck in the first ODI against Australia in Perth on Sunday, October 19. However, he would be playing the second ODI at his most successful overseas venue. Notably, Kohli has two centuries in four ODIs at this venue.

"I'm not in the fast-bowling meetings, but that seems to be the way he has been getting out recently. Some of the guys like 'Hoff' (Josh Hazlewood) and 'Starcy' (Mitchell Starc), they have bowled a lot against him, they know what they're doing,” Short told reporters.

"In Perth, they sort of let the conditions do all the work, a bit of swing and nip on the wicket, so I'm sure they'll do the same again,” he added.

Furthermore, Short asserted that he would be keen to have a chat with the veteran Indian batter at some stage of the three-match ODI series. Additionally, he termed Virat Kohli a legend of the sport.

"But it's going to be a cool way for him to go out, especially with so many fans here in Australia. It's pretty cool to share the field with such a legend of the sport. I'll definitely get the chance to have a chat with him at some stage throughout the series,” he concluded.

Short could score only eight runs off 17 balls with one four in the first ODI in Perth, batting at No.3. Australia finished off the chase in 21.1 overs with seven wickets in hand to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match series.
