Bangladesh announces squad for Asia Cup 2025; Nurul Hasan returns

On Friday, August 22, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) selectors revealed the Bangladesh T20I squad for the forthcoming Asia Cup 2025 campaign, which is set to start on Tuesday, September 9 in the United Arab Emirates.

While Litton Das will continue to lead the side, the keeper-batter Nurul Hasan has been recalled to the 16-member squad. Notably, Hasan last played a T20I three years ago during the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia.

Before the start of the Asia Cup 2025, the same 16-man squad will also compete against the Netherlands in a three-game T20I series. Apart from Hasan, the squad also sees the return of Saif Hasan after the gap of one and a half years, having last played at the Asian Games in 2023.

The eight-team affair in the United Arab Emirates will play an ideal role for Bangladesh ahead of the upcoming T20 World Cup 2026. Bangladesh are placed in Group alongside Sri Lanka, Afghanistan and Hong Kong.

Interestingly, Soumya Sarkar, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Tanvir Islam and Hasan Mahmud have been part of the standby players’ list.

It’s worth noting that there was also no place for former T20I skipper Najmul Hossain. Meanwhile, Bangladesh will lock horns with the Netherlands in the first of three T20Is on August 30 in Sylhet.

Mustafizur Rahman, Tanzim Hasan Sakib, Taskin Ahmed, Shoriful Islam and Shaif Uddin will form the pace battery for Bangladesh in the Asia Cup 2025 campaign.
