Bangladesh middle-order batter Jaker Ali Anik is confident of his national team lifting the Asia Cup 2025 title. Notably, Bangladesh reached the final of the Asia Cup campaign on three instances in the past, but ended as the runners-up on all those occasions.
Bangladesh, led by Litton Das, will enter the competition after securing two consecutive T20I series wins over Sri Lanka and Pakistan. Speaking at a press conference, Jaker stated that the dressing room environment is pretty positive, which makes them believe they can win the championship.
“Of course. This time, we are going to the Asia Cup with the goal of becoming champions. Personally, I can say that I am going there only to win the championship. And everyone in the dressing room also believes it. Especially with the environment we have right now and the kind of effort everyone is putting in, we all believe that this time we will go on to become champions,” Jaker told reporters in a press conference.
The 27-year-old dashing batter also added that Bangladesh isn’t going to take any team in the Asia Cup lightly. However, they are expected to stick to their plans and play their brand of cricket to deliver a good performance.
“There’s no chance of taking things lightly. Our mindset is that our plan will remain the same; the way we usually play our brand of cricket, we’ll play the same way against any team. So we’ll prepare in that manner to ensure we can deliver a good performance,” Jaker added.
Bangladesh is part of Group B alongside Sri Lanka, Hong Kong, and Afghanistan. They will initiate their campaign against Hong Kong on Thursday, September 11, at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi.
