In an interesting turn of events, Bangladesh defeated Pakistan in two consecutive matches to seal the three-match T20I series 2-0, winning their first-ever series over Men In Green in the shortest format of the game.

While Pakistan suffered a seven-wicket loss in the first T20I on Sunday, July 20, they later continued their poor momentum with the willow, suffering an eight-run defeat in the second T20I to lose the series with one more game to go.

Moving into the details of the second T20I, Bangladesh was tasked to bat first as they got bundled out for 133 runs in 20 overs. Jaker Ali was the top scorer, amassing 55 runs in 48 balls with one four and five sixes. Salman Mirza, Ahmed Daniyal and Abbas Afridi scalped two wickets apiece for Pakistan.

In the chase, Pakistan got all out for 125 runs in 19.2 overs, losing the game by eight runs. Faheem Ashraf showed some grit, smacking 51 runs in 32 balls with four fours and as many sixes, but in vain. Shoriful Islam pocketed a three-wicket haul while Mahedi Hasan and Tanzim Hasan picked up two wickets apiece.

“Our team played really well. We needed to bat well in the powerplay, but we couldn't. Was amazing to watch Mahedi and Jaker Ali bat. It looked like a 130-140 kind of a wicket. We knew we could defend that kind of a total. We bowled really well in the first 12-15 overs. When the ball was new, it was difficult to bat. We made a few mistakes (few dropped catches) and that cost us a few runs in the middle-overs,” Litton Das said at the post-match presentation.

“I think the way we bowled in the powerplay, we could have conceded 10 runs less. Need to improve our batting in the powerplay. Salman bowled really well, Daniyal was outstanding in this game. They are the ones for the future. We want to bat well as a top-order. 15 for 5 and bringing that game down to the wire, hats-off to Faheem for the way he batted. That's what we are as a team, we don't want to give up. We always think that we are going to win, that's our belief. It was a thriller today,” Salman Ali Agha said at the post-match presentation.
