The national team will host four Test matches, twelve one-day internationals, and nine Twenty20 matches spread across several series in the 2026 season, according to the Bangladesh Cricket Board's (BCB) extensive home international calendar.
According to Cricbuzz, which cited confirmation from the Bangladesh Cricket Board, the adjacent nation will host India for a three-match ODI series and as many T20Is in August–September 2026.
"The series that was postponed earlier between Bangladesh and India has been rescheduled," BCB cricket operation chief Shahriar Nafees informed Cricbuzz.
However, given the current situation and the absence of a stable administration, it is unclear if BCCI will consent to visit Bangladesh. The three ODIs will take place on September 1, 3, and 6, while the T20Is will take place on September 9, 12, and 13, according to a BCB media statement. On August 28, the Indian squad will travel to Bangladesh for their limited-overs match.
Mustafizur Rahman, a Bangladeshi international, was chosen by the Shah Rukh Khan-backed Indian Premier League (IPL) side Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) to play in the IPL 2026 season. This revelation comes as tensions between the two nations are rising. The franchise's move has drawn harsh criticism, with the threat of boycotts and perhaps violence looming.
“The confirmed itinerary ensures a season full of international cricket in Bangladesh, providing supporters across the country the opportunity to watch top-level cricket at home. Details of match venues will be announced in due course,” said the BCB in its statement on Friday.
Due to political unrest in Bangladesh, India's tour of the country was postponed from August 2025 to September 2026. India is expected to reach Bangladesh on August 28, according to BCB's timetable. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) only recently stated that a planned trip to Bangladesh in 2026 had been postponed by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Saturday, January 3.
“We didn’t travel to Bangladesh last year too, BCB had issued their international calendar, but it looks doubtful, as we need Indian government approval to play in any other country. As far as the T20I World Cup is concerned, Bangladesh will play as per the scheduled games in India," the newspaper quoted a BCCI official as saying.
