After a long wait, the Ajit Agarkar-led All India Men's Selection Committee has named India's Test squad for the upcoming two-match series against West Indies, which is scheduled to start on October 2 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

It’s important to note that the upcoming two-match Test series against West Indies will be India’s second assignment in the ongoing World Test Championship 2025-27 cycle. Notably, India leveled their first WTC 2025-27 assignment 2-2 against England away from home.

While the 15-man squad will be captained by Shubman Gill, all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja will act as his deputy. KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal are expected to open the batting, while Sai Sudharsan is likely to occupy the No.3 slot.

Moving forward, Gill will continue in his No.4 position. However, Karun Nair has been axed after a poor run on the England tour, and stylish left-handed batter Devdutt Padikkal has made a comeback after his impressive century against Australia A in the first unofficial Test.

The spin attack will have Jadeja along with Washington Sundar, Axar Patel, and Kuldeep Yadav as the lone specialist spinner. Nitish Kumar Reddy is the sole medium pace bowling all-rounder, while Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, and Prasidh Krishna form the pace battery.

Also, Dhruv Jurel will be India’s first-choice option as the keeper-batter, while Narayan Jagadeesan will be his backup.

India’s Test squad for West Indies series: Shubman Gill (c), Yashasvi Jaiswal, KL Rahul, Sai Sudharsan, Devdutt Padikkal, Dhruv Jurel (wk), Ravindra Jadeja (vc), Washington Sundar, Jasprit Bumrah, Axar Patel, Nitish Kumar Reddy, N Jagadeesan (wk), Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, Kuldeep Yadav.
