BCCI announces the India A squad for their England tour, featuring Easwaran as captain and promising talents like Jaiswal and Jurel. Gill and Sudharsan will join later for the England Lions matches ahead of the Test series.

BCCI announces India A squad for England tour

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the India A squad for the England tour, scheduled to start on May 30. Bengal opening batter Abhimanyu Easwaran would be leading the squad as they will play two first-class matches against England A.

Keeper-batter Dhruv Jurel will be acting as the deputy in the 18-man squad that has top cricketers like Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shardul Thakur, and Karun Nair. On the other hand, Shubman Gill and B Sai Sudharsan will join the squad for the second match.

Ishan Kishan is the second keeper choice in the squad. The other key players include Mukesh Kumar, Akash Deep, Harshit Rana, Anshul Kamboj, Khaleel Ahmed, Tushar Deshpande and all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy. The spinners are left-arm spinners Manav Suthar and Harsh Dubey, and off-spinner Tanush Kotian.

Karun Nair, who last played for India in 2017, is also a part of the Indian A squad, courtesy of his exceptional batting skills in the Ranji Trophy 2024-25 season, scoring 863 runs. Moreover, Nair also represented Northamptonshire in county cricket in 2023 and 2024, amassing 736 runs in 10 games at an average of 56.61. 

The first first-class game against England A begins on May 30 in Canterbury, with the second starting on June 6 in Northampton.

After playing England A, the India A side will also face the senior India side in a four-day fixture from June 13.

Note: Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan will join the squad ahead of the second match.
