Star Indian pace spearheads Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami have completely outmuscled England’s top order while defending a total of 229 runs in the ongoing 29th match of the ODI World Cup 2023. Both teams are playing this match at the BRSABVE Cricket Stadium in Lucknow. The Shami-Bumrah duo gave some major blows to England by scalping 4 wickets within the first powerplay at a total of 39 runs in 9.1 overs.

Mohammed Shami has scalped 2 wickets at the cost of just 5 runs in his 4 overs with an outstanding economy rate of just 1.25, including one maiden over. On the other hand, Jasprit Bumrah has also joined the party, claiming 2 wickets, at the cost of just 17 runs in 5 overs, including a maiden over.

Earlier, the hosts India were asked to bat first by England as the latter won the flip of the coin. The men in blue got some early blows as they lost 3 wickets just at the score of 40 runs. But then came a crucial partnership of 91 runs for the fourth wicket between skipper Rohit Sharma and the veteran wicketkeeper-batter KL Rahul. The latter fell prey to David Willey on the individual score of 39 runs, hitting 3 fours.

Rohit Sharma's captaincy knock takes India to a decent total

Furthermore, skipper Rohit Sharma also went back to the pavilion after adding an all-important individual score of 87 runs, with 10 fours and 3 sixes. Other than Rahul and Rohit, the star middle-order batter Suruyakumar Yadav also contributed with 49 runs, hitting 4 fours and a six.

On the back of these knocks, India managed to post a total of 229 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in the allotted 50 overs.

Notably, Rohit Sharma’s men are coming off with their unbeaten winning streak in the 5 matches they played so far. Team India have defeated Australia, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and New Zealand, respectively.
