Star Indian and RCB pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar has broken the silence on his chances of a Team India comeback in the future, stating that the answer is with the selection committee, led by Ajit Agarkar.
For the unversed, the Indian seamer last represented Team India against New Zealand in November 2022 in a T20I match in Napier. Meanwhile, his last ODI was against South Africa in Paarl in January 2022.
“The selectors will give you the answer to that. My job is to give my 100% on the field, and I am doing that. After the UP League, if I get a chance to play for the senior state teams in the Mushtaq Ali, Ranji, or one-day formats, I will try to perform my best there as well. As a disciplined bowler, my focus is on my fitness and my line and length. No matter how well you perform, sometimes luck doesn’t favor you,” Bhuvneshwar Kumar told Dainik Jagran.
With Rajeev Shukla promoted as the interim BCCI president, the star pacer asserted that it would be difficult to overlook talent from Uttar Pradesh. Nevertheless, he also felt that players should focus on giving their 100 percent and leave the rest to the selection committee.
“Your performance is paramount. If someone plays good cricket consistently, they cannot be ignored for long. Even if you’re not selected, focus on giving your 100 percent. The rest is up to the selectors. Yes, with Rajeev Shukla as president, it will be difficult to overlook talent,” he added.
It’s important to note that Bhuvneshwar has pocketed 141 wickets in ODIs and 91 wickets in T20Is. He plied his trade for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the IPL 2025 season after being picked by the franchise for the whopping INR 10.75 Crore after being released by the Sunrisers Hyderabad franchise.
