In a recent piece of news, a total of 1,166 registered for the IPL 2024 mini-auction, which is set to be held on Tuesday, December 19, 2023. Star performers in the recently concluded ODI World Cup 2023, including the likes of Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins, Travis Head, Daryl Mitchell and Rachin Ravindra also registered for the auction of the next edition of the tournament.

Meanwhile, a few of the Indian players who are currently ‘out-of-action’ from the regular cricket have surprisingly set their base price of INR 2 crores. The list of these players includes the likes of Harshal Patel, Kedar Jadhav, Umesh Yadav, and Shardul Thakur.

“Of the 830 Indians, 18 are capped players, namely Varun Aaron, KS Bharat, Kedar Jadhav, Siddarth Kaul, Dhawal Kulkarni, Shivam Mavi, Shahbaz Nadeem, Karun Nair, Manish Pandey, Harshal Patel, Chetan Sakariya, Mandeep Singh, Barinder Sran, Shardul Thakur, Jaydev Unadkat, Hanuma Vihari, Sandeep Warrier and Umesh Yadav,” reads a report in Cricbuzz.

“Of the capped Indians, only four - Harshal Patel, Kedar Jadhav, Shardul Thakur, and Umesh Yadav - all recently released by their franchises, have set their base price at a maximum of Rs 2 crore. The remaining 14 will be available at the reserve price of Rs 50 lakh,” the report adds further.

IPL 2024 mini-auction to be held in three weeks

Notably, the mini-auction for the 17th edition of the Indian Premier League will be held on Sunday, December 19, 2023.

Coming back to the capped Indian players with base price of INR 2 crores, this news also garnered a lot of reactions from the cricket fans. Some of the fans also predicted that this decision of 2-crore base price decision might lead to the players going unsold during the min-auction for the IPL 2023.

“Franchisees have also been instructed to respond with a list of players from the Register that they would like to be included in the Auction, with a reminder that only 77 slots are to be filled, of which a maximum of 30 can be overseas players,” reads Cricbuzz report.
