Champions Trophy 2025: 3 CSK players to watch out for

The ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025 is only days away from the mega opening with the hosts Pakistan and the former champions New Zealand clashing against each other on February 19. Kiwis’ stars Devon Conway and Rachin Ravindra, who also represent Chennai Super Kings in the IPL, will look for solid performances in the 50-over tournament ahead of the 2025 season of the Indian Premier League.

IPL 2025 will see a lot of players from the previous seasons playing for the different teams after the mega auction. The five-time champions Chennai Super Kings are one of the few teams who retained their core group of players and strengthened their team with quality additions in the auction.

CSK will enter the upcoming edition as a strong title contender and fans will keep their eyes on their players set to feature in the Champions Trophy 2025. Six CSK stars will be in action in the ICC event in Pakistan and we highlight three of those players who will be under the focus in the tournament.

1. Ravindra Jadeja (India)

The veteran Indian spin all-rounder is the only CSK player who made it to the Rohit Sharma-led squad for the Champions Trophy 2025. After a poor show in the 2023 ODI World Cup, Jadeja struggled for consistency with both bat and ball across formats but returned to the ODI setup for the ongoing three-match ODI series against England.

The 36-year-old CSK star picked just eight wickets in the IPL 2024 but the franchise retained him for a whooping price of Rs 18 crore. Fans will be hoping for positive performances from the stalwart in the Champions Trophy 2025 and then in the highly-anticipated T20 league.

2. Rachin Ravindra (New Zealand)

After witnessing a stunning rise in his international stature with his performances in the ODI World Cup 2023, Rachin Ravindra will be under pressure to emulate the success in the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The batting all-rounder has established himself as an indispensable part of the Kiwis’ ODI team and will play for the CSK in IPL 2025.

The 25-year-old Rachin was not retained by CSK after mixed performances in 2024 but the franchise went on to sign him back for Rs 4 crore in the 2025 player auction. Rachin boasts 945 runs in just 24 ODI innings at an average of 41.08 and the CSK fans are expecting something extraordinary from the player ahead of IPL 2025.

3. Nathan Ellis (Australia)

Nathan Ellis is likely to get a chance to impress in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 after Australia lost the regular fast bowlers Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood to injuries. Ellis, who will play for CSK in the IPL 2025, will also look to grab the opportunity and make a name for himself.

The 31-year-old right-arm pacer recently captained Hobart Hurricanes to their first-ever Big Bash League title with impressive performances with a ball. Ellis will be looking to make an impact in the Champions Trophy to earn a regular place in CSK’s team as he faces strong competition for the overseas pacer slot from Matheesha Pathirana, Jamie Overton and Sam Curran.
