Punjab Kings have made a lot of changes for the upcoming season. They brought in Ricky Ponting as the head coach of the team. Before heading to the IPL 2025 Auction, the team retained Shashank Singh and Prabhsimran Singh.

PBKS spent INR 26.75 crore for Shreyas Iyer and he became the second-most expensive player in the history of IPL Auction. Arshdeep Singh and Yuzvendra Chahal were also two of the most expensive players the team bought during the auction. PBKS spent INR 18 crore each for both the players.

The team managed to get back Marcus Stoinis for INR 11 crore. He played 19 matches for the franchise from the 2016 season to 2018 and scored 262 runs at a strike rate of 125.96.
