The ninth edition of the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy is set to begin on February 19 with the top eight ODI teams battling for the silverware. Australia, the winners of ODI World Cup 2023 and India, the runners-up, are tipped title favourites and fans will be eager for the potential blockbuster clash between them.
India are drawn in Group A with Bangladesh, New Zealand and bitter rivals and tournament hosts Pakistan. The Indian team will play all their league games and potential knockout matches in Dubai, including a highly–anticipated clash against Pakistan.
Pakistan’s downfall and India’s dominance in recent cricket don’t make it an even contest but their meeting at ICC events is always the most hyped topic for the cricket fans around the globe. India and Pakistan are set to face each other in the group-stage match on February 23 and it will be their 136th meeting in ODI cricket history.
India vs Pakistan head-to-head record in ODIs
India’s recent dominance over Pakistan across formats and their ICC rankings make them a clear favourite for a win but the head-to-head record supports Mohammad Rizwan-led side. It comes as a surprise, but Pakistan not only leads the head-to-head record against India in ODIs but also dominates their rivals.
Pakistan have emerged winners in 73 of 135 encounters in ODI cricket against India with the latter winning only 57 games. These stats are enough to make Pakistan clear favourites against India on paper but the recent meetings suggest otherwise.
India and Pakistan last played against each other in a bilateral series in 2013 and after that, their encounters are limited to only ICC events. India has won 7 of their last 10 matches against Pakistan, including a big seven-wicket triumph in their last meeting during the 2023 World Cup.

Meanwhile, in the ICC Champions Trophy history, Pakistan also lead India in the head-to-head record. Pakistan have registered three wins in their five encounters against India in tournament history, including a memorable 180-run victory in their 2017 final.
