David Warner breaks Virat Kohli’s record; becomes fifth highest run-getter in T20s

Despite retiring from international cricket, Australian veteran David Warner has continued to play on the T20 circuit and surpassed Virat Kohli to become the fifth-highest run scorer in T20 cricket.

Warner accomplished this during the London Spirit's game versus the Manchester Originals in England's current The Hundred competition. Warner struck above 139 strike rates throughout the game with a massive knock of 71 in 51 balls, which included 12 fours and a six.

Ben McKinney (29 in 12 balls, with two fours and three sixes), Jos Buttler (46 in 37 balls, with three fours and two sixes), and Phil Salt (31 in 20 balls, with four boundaries and a six) all contributed to his team's failure to reach the 164 Manchester set.

David Warner now has 13,545 T20 runs, going past Virat Kohli’s record

Thanks to his knock of 71 runs, David Warner went past Virat Kohli’s haul of runs in T20 cricket. Virat Kohli has scored 13,543 runs in 414 matches and 397 innings at an average of 41.92, with a strike rate of 134.67, with nine centuries and 105 fifties, with a best score of 122*.

But with his 71-run knock in the Hundred, David Warner went past Virat Kohli’s record. Warner now has 13,545 runs in 419 T20 matches. He has an average of 36.80 and a strike rate of above 140, with eight centuries and 113 fifties, and a best score of 135*.

In what is his first season of the Hundred competition, Warner is topping the run charts with 150 runs in three matches at an average of 75.00, with a strike rate of 141.50 and two half-centuries.

Chris Gayle, a legend from the West Indies, is the best scorer in Twenty20 cricket. His fierce hitting transformed the sport and made him its first major star. With an average of 36.22 and a strike rate of 144.75, he has participated in 463 games and amassed 14,562 runs in 455 innings, including 88 fifties, 22 hundreds, and a top score of 175*.

A couple of excellent T20 tournaments could make the record a little more attainable, and if Warner is still healthy and playing well, there is a real chance that he will surpass Gayle's global record. Warner is only over 1000 runs away from surpassing him.
