Star All-rounder Hardik Pandya is set to miss at least two months of cricketing action owing to an injury. The 30-year-old had injured himself during the ODI World Cup 2023 game versus Bangladesh in Pune.

As per reports carried out by the Indian Express, Hardik Pandya is set to miss out on the Australian and South African series. It was widely expected that Hardik Pandya would be the skipper of the T20 side for both series.

India and Australia are set to play five T20 games starting 23rd November just four days after the ODI World Cup final. Team India will then fly to South Africa in early December and play three T20 games.

Hardik Pandya set to miss two months of cricketing action

30-year-old Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya will be missing the T20 Series against Australia and South Africa due to injury. Hardik Pandya will also miss the three-match ODI series against South Africa towards the end of 2023.

The reason for the long injury lay-off is the fact that the Indian Cricket Board doesn’t want to rush Hardik Pandya back into action. The Indian star has had a long history of injury and had just started bowling a year ago.

There even talks of Hardik Pandya resuming his test career to give better balance to the Indian side. Matthew Wade will be leading the Australian side during the five-match T20 series against India starting on the 23rd of November. Team India then travels to South Africa to play 2 Tests, three ODI matches, and three T20 matches. There will be extra focus on Hardik Pandya as it looks likely he will lead the Indian side during the 2024 T20 World Cup.

In the absence of Hardik Pandya, the Indian team could be led by either Suryakumar Yadav or Ruturaj Gaikwad. Most of the players who played the Asian Games 2022 event in China will be given a go. Sanju Samson could also get a recall to the Indian side to lend more experience.

Veteran Indian pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar is another player who could be on the verge of a comeback. The 33-year-old could lead the Indian pace attack in the absence of Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, and Mohammed Siraj.
