Dewald Brevis rewrites history books with his dominating century against Australia

South African explosive young batter Dewald Brevis caught the limelight after scoring an exceptional unbeaten 125-run knock in 56 balls against Australia in the second T20I of the three-match series.

While South Africa posted 218/7 in 20 overs, Australia got bundled out for 165 runs in 17.4 overs. With this convincing win, the visitors broke their six-match losing streak against Australia in T20Is.

Let’s delve into the details of the records created by Brevis in this article. Brevis was just 22 years old, and at 22 years and 105 days old, the explosive batter became the youngest player from South Africa to score a T20I century.

Also, Brevis went on to hit the highest T20I score in Australia, which was previously held by Shane Watson. Brevis took 41 balls to reach his century, becoming the second fastest centurion for South Africa in T20Is.

Subsequently, Brevis also became the first batter to score a century against Australia in Australia in T20Is. On that note, let’s take a look at what Brevis and Aiden Markram said after the game.

“I haven't thought about it to be honest (on having the highest score for South Africa in T20Is). Really grateful and thankful to god for winning tonight. We want to win and to come back stronger after the first game. Everyone played a part and we took our catches. They are great players and they hit the ball hard and over the ropes, we have to be on it in this format. We played well today, so it's great,” Dewald Brevis said after the game.

“The boys just found themselves laughing on the side. He (Brevis) hits it miles, quite a freakish display. It's scary, he will keep getting better, hell of a ball-striker,” Aiden Markram said after the match.
