India registered the second consecutive win in the five-match T20I series against Australia, beating them by 44 runs in the second T20I of the series. Both teams played this match at the Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram on Sunday. The visitors’ skipper Matthew Wade won the toss and decided to bowl first.

Batting first, India got a fiery start from the opening pair of Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ruturaj Gaikwad; the duo stitched blistering 77 runs for the first wicket in just 5.5 overs, with Jaiswal completing his swashbuckling half-century off just 24 balls, scoring 53 runs off 25 balls, hitting fours and 2 sixes.

Other than Jaiswal, Ruturaj Gaikwad and wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan also scored the crucial half-centuries with the knocks of 58 and 52 runs, respectively. They also stitched a mind-blowing partnership of 87 runs for the third wicket.

Later around the end of the Indian innings, the young batting sensation Rinku Singh once again shone with the bat and gave an outstanding finishing touch; he smashed an unbeaten 31 runs off just 9 balls to take India’s total to 235 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Nathan Ellis picked 3 wickets for Australia, alongside one scalp claimed by Marcus Stoinis.

Indian bowlers share excellence as Australia fell short to the target

While chasing the target, the Aussie batters crumbled against the Indian bowlers except for the fighting knocks of 45 and 42 runs scored by all-rounder Marcus Stoinis and skipper Matthew Wade, respectively. However, they couldn’t sustain against the Indian bowling attack and got restricted to the score of 191 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in 20 overs.

Prasidh Krishna and Ravi Bishnoi scalped three wickets each, alongside one wicket each bagged by Arshdeep Sing, Axar Patel, and Mukesh Kumar.

Eventually, India won the match by a good margin of 44 runs to gain a lead of 2-0 in the five-match T20I series against Matthew Wade’s Australia.
