Pakistan sports broadcaster Zainab Abbas, who is a part of the digital team of cricket’s governing body for covering the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023, has left India on Monday. The media reports have learned that she has been deported from India following her reportedly anti-India posts a couple of years ago.
However, the international governing body of cricket came forward to end the speculations, saying that she had not been deported from India and there were some personal reasons for which she went back to Pakistan.
The entire episode started when the old posts of Zainab Abbas from her X account (formerly Twitter) started making rounds on social media. Her old posts went viral after she uploaded a post on her X account informing the fans about her arrival in India to cover the prestigious cricket quadrennial.
“Zainab has not been deported, she has left for personal reasons,” said the governing body’s spokesperson to PTI.
“There was always intrigue on what lies on the other side, more cultural similarities than differences, rivals on the field but camaraderie off the field, the same language & love for art & a country with a billion people, here to represent, to create content & bring in expertise from the best in the business. Humbled to be presenting in India at the Cricket WC2023, again, a journey away from home of 6 weeks starts now,” wrote Zainab in her tweet after arriving in India.
