ENG v IND: Watch: Harpreet Brar joins India squad in nets ahead of second Test in Edgbaston

During their practice session, a well-known figure from the IPL attracted notice as India gets ready for the second Test match against England at Edgbaston. Fans and onlookers alike were left wondering when Punjab Kings spinner Harpreet Brar was spotted bowling in the nets with the Test team in Birmingham.

Brar, who is well-known in the IPL for his all-around skills and left-arm spin, is not included in India's official Test team for the trip. Additionally, he was spotted training in an attire that differed from the team's official uniform, indicating that he was not officially a member of the squad but rather was invited as a net bowler or guest to help with the team's preparations.

Following a poor defeat in Leeds, the Indian bowling attack is under pressure going into the Birmingham Test. India got off to a good start because to Jasprit Bumrah's five-wicket haul in the first innings, but England easily chased down 371 thanks to his lackluster second-innings session.

India's spin option, Ravindra Jadeja, took just one wicket in each innings while the rest of the pace attack fought for dominance.

Big changes expected in India XI for the second Test

There are big changes expected in the India XI after the poor bowling show in Leeds. Edgbaston is generally a flat pitch with batters ruling the roost. Kuldeep Yadav is set to be included in the playing XI, while Jasprit Bumrah is set to give this match a miss due to workload management.

India is set to go bowling heavy with Shardul Thakur making way for Akash Deep and Arshdeep Singh, also making his debut, probably in place of Prasidh Krishna.

Although Brar's attendance at training does not necessarily indicate a call-up, it does demonstrate the team's desire to expand its spin resources. The management's strategy regarding spin combinations may be crucial as India looks to keep its hitters ready for the pitch's turn, which can be crucial for their goal of recovering in the series. This is because Edgbaston's circumstances frequently change as the game goes on.
