ENG vs IND: 3 Players who should've been included in the Indian Test Squad

The deliberate emphasis on experience, seam bowling depth, and track records in international settings is evident in India's 2025 Test team for the England visit. On paper, the selection seems well-balanced, but there have been discussions about a few significant exclusions.

Some players may have had the qualifications to be included based on their form, potential, and team needs, given the difficult English environment. Their experience and skills would’ve made the job easier for the new captain and team management.

Here are the 3 players who should've been included in the Indian Test squad:

1. Shreyas Iyer

Shreyas Iyer is a good middle-order option for England's swinging conditions because of his methodical approach and capacity to accumulate innings. Despite his little Test experience, his versatility and experience may offer much-needed steadiness against quality pace assaults.

His inclusion may have neutralized any threat England posed to India because of his compact style, which works well on English fields where patience is essential. Including him might have added balance to India’s batting lineup, providing depth and resilience in tough sessions.

2. Mukesh Kumar

Mukesh Kumar's precision and ball-swinging skills are ideal for England's seam-friendly conditions. India's fast-bowling attack would have benefited from his ability to create movement and sustain pressure. Given the emphasis on fast bowling in English conditions, Mukesh’s skill set fits the bill for a supportive yet attacking role in the pace attack.

Mukesh's presence may have given experienced pacers crucial support, allowing India to take advantage of advantageous conditions and sustain bowling energy throughout the series. In England, early swing and bounce are crucial, and Mukesh could’ve come in handy in those conditions.

3. Sarfaraz Khan

Sarfaraz Khan is perfect for England's challenging batting conditions because of his strong defensive style and disposition. His ability to play long innings and his calm style could provide India's middle order much-needed solidity.

Despite having little Test experience, his versatility and solid local record indicate that he would manage the swinging ball well and provide India with an aggressive alternative to counter England's pacers at home. Selecting Sarfaraz might have added depth to the batting order and allowed India to better negotiate difficult spells from the opposition bowlers.
