England has announced its squad for the Test series against India, which is set to take place in January and February 2024. the big Test series is set to decide the supremacy of two of the best Test sides in the last 2-3 years. The former world champions announced its squad which consists of 16 players with different roles for the tour of India, which is expected to be a thrilling one for the audience. 

England has some terrific players for the series against India. The likes of Ben Stokes (C), Joe Root, James Anderson, Gus Atkinson, Jonny Bairstow, Rehan Ahmed, Zack Crawley, Ben Duckett, Ben Foakes, Jack Leach, Harry Brook, Shoaib Bashir, Tom Hartley, Ollie Pope, Mark Wood, and Ollie Robinson are named in the squad of England for the series against India. 

Ben Stokes is announced as the captain of England for the series. The English Test captain missed out on joining the IPL 2024 due to the surgery he had to undergo. Before the big Test series against India, the fans would be hoping for Stokes to be fit. With Stokes, England has several other players who are on their fourth tour of India in Tests.

The right balance of youth and experience for the series

England has announced such a squad that has a good mix of young and experienced players. James Anderson, Joe Root, Stokes, Bairstow and others have the experience of playing a lot of Tests. On the other hand, England has given a maiden call-up to the likes of Gus Atkinson, Shoaib Bashir, and Tom Hartley for the tour. In order to win the series, England must trust youngsters and the experienced ones to put their best foot forward. 

The series is expected to bring the best out of both the sides. For India, the challenge would be to safeguard their home fortress, which has not been breached since 2012/13. Interestingly, England was the last team to have beaten India in India in a Test series. For the visiting side, the challenge would be to prove that Bazball could sustain top teams in their own backyard.
