England vs India 2025

There have been thrilling matches, exceptional performances, and tactical changes between locations in the current five-match Test series between England and India. In order to adjust to changing circumstances and obstacles, both teams have strategically switched up their lineups.

Some members of the Indian team that was on tour did not play in the series, but several players have made an impression. They were included in the contingent; however, they were not included in the starting lineup.

Here are the 3 Indian players who didn't get a chance in the five-match England vs. India 2025 series:

1. Arshdeep Singh

Despite traveling with the team, Arshdeep Singh, a left-arm seamer with a reputation for swinging the ball, was never used. This is despite Mohammed Siraj playing all five games and Jasprit Bumrah managing the workload. For most of the series, India's pace attack was largely unchanged, with seasoned and productive bowlers producing reliable results.

Arshdeep would have been a tempting choice given the Duke's ball and the cloudy weather. Due to a thumb injury sustained during practice, he was unable to make his Manchester Test debut. Other quicks with more red-ball experience and recent domestic performances, however, were given priority by the management.

2. Kuldeep Yadav

Kuldeep Yadav, one of the best wrist spinners in the world, did not play in any of the five Test matches for India. When Bumrah missed a few games, there was a strong push for his inclusion. Multiple spin alternatives in the playing XI were not necessary due to England's conditions, which often favor seam bowling.

India primarily depended on Washington Sundar and Ravindra Jadeja, two finger spinners who could control the run flow and contribute with the bat. India had a longer tail and more cushion because of both of their batting skills. This meant that Kuldeep was passed over in favor of more well-rounded options, despite his effectiveness in subcontinental settings.

3. Abhimanyu Easwaran

Abhimanyu Easwaran's lengthy quest for a Test debut continued as he was once again left out of India's Test team. Despite being a prolific player in domestic cricket, he was unable to establish himself in the starting lineup due to fierce competition for top-order slots. The first time he got called up to the Indian squad as a backup opener was in 2022.

Easwaran was always a backup because India chose to use seasoned openers and experimented with other young batsmen like Sai Sudharsan. Opportunities on overseas tours have been hard to come by, even though they are regularly selected in squads.
