England’s provisional squad announced for T20 World Cup 2026; Harry Brook to lead

On Tuesday, December 30, the England Cricket Board (ECB) named the provisional squad for the forthcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2026, which is scheduled to start on Saturday, February 7, in India and Sri Lanka.

Also, the ECB announced the squads that will take on Sri Lanka in January 2026 in three ODIs and as many T20Is. Middle-order batter Harry Brook will lead England on the Sri Lanka tour and the T20 World Cup.

Harry Brook, Jos Buttler, Jofra Archer, Sam Curran, Ben Duckett, Will Jacks, Adil Rashid, and Phil Salt have retained their spots in the provisional squad after being part of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 campaign, in which England got knocked out in the semi-final against India.

Pacer Josh Tongue has received his maiden T20I call-up, while Brydon Carse is also included in the squad for Sri Lanka. On the other hand, Joe Root is part of the 50-over squad for the Sri Lankan tour.

All-rounder Will Jacks has returned to the ODI and T20I squads after missing the New Zealand white-ball tour in October, while Zak Crawley made it to the ODI squad for the first time since December 2023.
