England beat the West Indies

England beat West Indies in a high-scoring third T20I match at National Cricket Stadium, Grenada. The defending champions won the toss and chose to bowl first. The English bowlers started well as they dismissed both openers cheaply inside three overs. Nicholas Pooran and Shai Hope built the innings playing their natural shots and the runs kept on coming for the hosts.

Pooran, on the other hand, smashed a half-century and ensured that the runs flowed from one end to the other. Rovman Powell and Sherfane Rutherford made valuable contributions with the bat. The former scored 39 runs and the latter scored 29, so that the Windies scored 200 runs. No one expected them to score 222 runs in 20 overs after a poor start where they were 8/2.

The left-handed wicket-keeper batsman reached his half-century in 37 balls, blasting three sixes and three fours. He finished on 82 runs off 45 balls, smashing six sixes and an equal number of fours as well. Rashid and Reece Topley were the pick of the bowlers for the visitors.

England chases a huge total

Phil Salt and skipper Buttler got off to a flying start, they stitched a 115-run partnership for the first wicket. The captain was the first to be dismissed after scoring 51 runs off 34 balls. Salt scored his maiden T20I century, he was unbeaten on 109 runs off 56 deliveries. Liam Livingstone scored a valuable 30 off 18 balls, while Harry Brook gave the finishing touches in style, scoring 31 off 7 balls and hammering Andre Russell for 24 runs in the final over.

Salt who was named the man of the match for his brilliant innings stated, "There’s no sports team in the world that is happy with losing games. It’s tough out here, we’ve been under the gun a little bit, but with the series in the balance to come out and play the way we did, I am over the moon. It certainly narrows the mind as to what you need to do. We spoke in the middle about trying to leave 60 or 70 off the last five – we felt that was something we could do."
