Bollywood actor Suniel Shetty, who is a proud father-in-law of Delhi Capitals batter KL Rahul, opened up on the top-order batter scripting history against the Gujarat Titans most recently after scoring an impressive century.
For the unversed, KL Rahul smacked his fifth IPL century against the Gujarat Titans at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Sunday, May 18. Earlier, he smacked two centuries each for Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG).
Moreover, KL Rahul became the fastest Indian batter to reach 8000 T20 runs, going past the talismanic Indian batter Virat Kohli. While Rahul took 214 innings to reach the milestone, Kohli took 243 innings to get there.
Also, Rahul emerged as the first ever batter in the history of the cash-rich league to smash at least one century for three different franchises. In a video posted by ANI on Instagram, Suniel Shetty can be seen praising KL Rahul and his work towards the game.
“The only thing I know about KL Rahul is that he wants to play for the country, come what may. He wants to play all formats, whether it’s No. 1, No. 5, No. 8, No. 9, No. 10, or No. 11. He just wants to be a part of Team India, and that’s his biggest achievement,” he said.
“He admires Virat a lot. They’re very good friends. So, I don’t think he would be happy just because he’s broken Virat Kohli’s record. He’ll be happy because he’s done well. For him, it’s not about beating Virat or Rohit (Rohit Sharma)—it’s about doing well and taking the team home. That’s all that matters,” he added.
Speaking about the Capitals' journey in the ongoing season, they are still in contention for the playoffs. Interestingly, Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals have two games each and are aiming for the one vacant spot.
