“If I start naming real sloggers, some people might get offended” - Harbhajan Singh slams Mohammad Amir for his ‘slogger’ dig on Abhishek Sharma

Former Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh has responded to Mohammad Amir’s dig on the Indian explosive batter Abhishek Sharma. Notably, Amir, while speaking on a Pakistani sports show, stated that he doesn’t see Sharma as a pure batter.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Bhajji was quick to slam the former Pakistani pacer for his comments over Sharma, adding that the Indian explosive opener knows where the ball is coming from and plays his shots accordingly. 

“He (Abhishek Sharma) is a proper batsman who knows where the ball is coming and plays the shot accordingly. He can play over cover, a shot at point, and all kinds of shots, long-on, long-off, mid-wicket. You cannot call him a slogger. If I start naming real sloggers, some people might get offended, but I don’t want to create more drama. Still, calling anyone just a slogger like that, I don’t think it is fair,” Harbhajan Singh said on his YouTube channel.

“Abhishek is a top-class batsman who has proved himself in world cricket. Tomorrow, you better watch out. If Abhishek stays at the crease, for the last 4-5 months, he has already been in your dreams. If he goes big tomorrow, then for the next six months, he will be in your dreams again,” he added.

For the unversed, Amir, while speaking on a local show, asserted that Abhishek Sharma is a slogger and not technically sound. Furthermore, he added that he will consider Sharma as a pure batter only when he tackles swing early on in the powerplay overs.

“By whatever little I have seen, if you ask me honestly, I feel he is just a slogger… I don’t think he is technically sound. He just stands there and wants all balls to be bowled in a particular area. I will consider him a proper batter only when I see that the ball is swinging even slightly and he tackles it well.” Amir said on a Pakistani channel.
