Hardik Pandya on bowling no-balls vs Gujarat Titans

Mumbai Indians (MI) captain Hardik Pandya has expressed his disappointment over the no-balls bowled in the Gujarat Titans’ chase of 156 runs in the 56th match of the IPL 2025 season at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

At 40/1 in seven overs, GT was finding it tough to middle the ball in the chase. However, Hardik decided to try his luck, rolling his arm. He went on to bowl two no-balls and three wides, conceding 18 runs in his first over to turn the game towards the Titans.

"I mean I won't say catches cost us the game. We were very clinical in the field. I would rather say the no-balls. My no-balls and even the last no-ball. In my eyes in T20s it's a crime. Most of the time in T20 cricket, it bites you. It definitely did to us but at the same time, I was really happy that everyone gave their 120% and fought really well," said Hardik Pandya at the post-match presentation.

Despite setting only a 156-run target, Mumbai Indians bowlers fought well, bowling disciplined lines and lengths to make things tough for the Titans. The MI skipper felt that the team was 20-25 runs short.

"Yes, definitely it's a tough way to go down. I think we fought really well with the total we had on the board. Most of the time we got out of the game but as a group we kept pushing. It was a game of fine margins,” he added.

"It was definitely not a 150 wicket. We were definitely short of 20-25 runs or maybe 30 runs if we would've batted well. Credit to the bowlers as they bowled in the right areas and kept fighting," he stated.

After multiple rain-hit breaks, GT was asked to chase 15 runs in the final over chase that was reduced to 19 overs. Interestingly, instead of Hardik, Deepak Chahar came into bowl, conceding 15 runs, resulting in a three-wicket win for the Titans.
