Pakistan star pacer Haris Rauf has responded to sharp criticism after his poor performance in the Asia Cup 2025 final against India, as he conceded 50 runs in his 3.4 overs as India went on to lift the title.

Speaking at the post-match press conference after Pakistan’s six-run win over Sri Lanka in the first ODI, Rauf asserted that the players are expected to perform like robots, adding that they are humans and they can have bad days.

“Humare liye koi maafi nahi hoti, we are expected to perform like robots, but we are human beings and we can have bad days,” Haris Rauf said at the post-match press conference.

“The main thing is you don't give up. You don't die from a bad day. We keep believing in our skills and keep working on rectifying mistakes. Any bowler can have a bad day, it's part of being a professional cricketer,” he added.

For the unversed, Rauf scalped a four-wicket haul, conceding 61 runs in his 10-over spell at an economy of 6.10 against Sri Lanka in the first ODI. He scalped the big wickets of Kamil Mishara, Sadeera Samarawickrama, Pathun Nissanka, and Kusal Mendis.

“No player likes to be criticised. You might have 10 good matches and one bad game, and everyone remembers only the bad game. Fans should never doubt that we try our best every time,” he stated.

Furthermore, Rauf also stated that he would love to play the longest format of the game for Men In Green if given a chance. Interestingly, he has played only one Test, scalping a wicket. His only Test came against England in Rawalpindi in December 2022.

“I want to play Tests for Pakistan too. I just need to be informed in advance so I can prepare for red-ball cricket properly,” he concluded.
