The last game of the Super Four round of the Asia Cup 2025 gave the best match of the tournament so far. Sri Lanka had already been knocked out and India had qualified for the finals before the first ball of the game was bowled, effectively making this match a dead rubber, but what came later on entertained everybody.

India were put to bat first, and yet again they batted excellently in the powerplay, even though they lost Gill early. Abhishek got going yet another time, and with contributions from the middle order in Varma and Samson, India posted the biggest total of the season on the board in 202 runs.

The chase was expected not to be an easy game, but the top order of Sri Lanka surely surprised everyone. Nissanka and Perera belted the Indian bowlers all around the park, especially in the power play, and it looked like a set game for Sri Lanka. However, in the last few overs, Indian bowlers did a great job in pulling things back, and eventually the match ended in a tie, pushing the game into the Super Over.

A huge chunk of the blame for pushing the game into the Super Over has been put on the Indian pacer Harshit Rana. He registered an ugly record to his name in this game as he gave away 54 runs in his quota of four overs while taking away just one wicket, which came in the last over of the game.

Now, he finds himself on the list of the most expensive spells in the Men’s T20I Asia Cup history. He holds the joint second position with Zeeshan Masood of Oman, who has the same figures. Rana is the only Indian bowler in the list.

Several ex-cricketers, including the likes of Ravi Ashwin and K Srikkanth, have slammed him for his poor bowling in the game, claiming that he kept bowling the same thing even though he was being smacked for runs around. This was Rana’s second game of the tournament this year.
