“He has been more matured” - Former Indian cricketer hails PBKS explosive batter

Punjab Kings bowling coach Sunil Joshi has heaped praises on the explosive opening batter Prabhsimran Singh, who has been consistently delivering with runs this season. Opening the innings, Singh smacked 83 runs off 49 balls with six fours and as many sixes against KKR on Saturday, April 26.

While he started off with 34 off 32 balls, he later pressed the accelerator, scoring the next 49 runs in 17 deliveries. His score propelled PBKS to post 201/4 in 20 overs. Unfortunately, the game had to be abandoned due to heavy rain during the second innings.

"I think it's all about confidence. In the pre-season, how much volume he adds to his batting is very important. Of course, the positive environment with (head coach) Ricky (Ponting) and the batting coaching staff has really done well," Joshi said after the game was abandoned.

Interestingly, Prabhsimran has been part of the Punjab Kings set-up since his IPL debut in 2019. Moreover, he was also retained by the franchise ahead of the IPL 2025 Mega Auction. Joshi hailed his consistency in the shortest format of the game.

"He has been consistently performing in white-ball format as well. Last year also, he has shown consistency and the numbers show that. But this year, he has been more mature. He was part of an emerging team as well. So, that confidence also added to him," Joshi said.

Moreover, Joshi also hailed youngster Priyansh Arya, who scored a 35-ball 69 as the duo stitched an impressive 120-run opening stand against KKR. Notably, Priyansh Arya hogged the spotlight after his century against CSK this season.

"They are exciting players. Prabhsimran is a seasoned campaigner. He is more experienced. He has come up with successfully good plans for today. So, it's a long way ahead for both of them," Joshi stated.
